I’m an independent journalist, focusing on humanitarian reporting and international media development. I completed a masters in journalism at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2013 and won a New York Times student reporting contest to cover issues of global health and poverty alongside Nicholas Kristof in Mali, Niger and Chad.
My Peace Corps service in Kyrgyzstan helped solidified my passion for cross-cultural communication and understanding of access to news as a basic humanitarian need.

When I’m not absorbed in reporting projects, I travel with an open itinerary, surround myself with good cooks, run to the likes of Mumford & Sons, and orchestrate reunions with friends and family.
